My
favorite quote is from Nelson Mandela, "Our deepest fear is not
that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful
beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens
us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented
and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of
God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There's nothing
enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure
around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that
is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And
as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others."
So
often in this world we find ourselves shrinking to fit into a
size that is not us, instead of being the tall beautiful shining
stars that we are, just so we do not overwhelm the smaller people
of the world. It is a criminal habit that many of our stature
have fallen into. We were given a gift in our height. It is noticeable,
it sparks interest, it creates awareness, and we should think
of ourselves in just that way, gifted. Stand up and be noticed.
Don't be afraid of the power that comes with such stature. Be
full of the beauty you were given inside and out. Find your confidence
and don't be afraid to let yourself shine.
So
love yourself this Valentine's Day and have a beautiful day!
Sincerely,
